Technology Challenges

ANSIC approached A1 Technologies in early 2020 to assist with an audit and remediation project; ANSIC were scaling their business and looking to launch a number of new products to market, and their IT environment had to be working with the business, not against it.

ANSIC were having frequent and frustrating issues with document management, storage and security. Specifically, critical documents were not available in a timely manner across remote devices for field operations causing delays in communications and confusion for remote workers.

Additionally, due to their IT infrastructure and Microsoft 365 not being properly setup critical and confidential information was not securely stored across devices correctly.

These ongoing synchronisation and security issues were causing problems with productivity, communication, and collaboration.

We faced a range of problems including lack of sufficient security measures to confidently secure internal and external systems, we had concerns that unsecured employee accounts would result in possible security breaches. We also had ongoing issues without physical devices including workstations and tablets not syncing with our cloud-based filing system.

To further compound the problem, ANSIC were confident that their Microsoft licensing was not compliant meaning they were not getting the correct level of security they needed as a Security and Investigations company.  Inadequate licensing also meant that they were overpaying for some features and underpaying for others.

The Solution

Following a complete audit on ANSICs  internal IT environment and their Microsoft 365 tenant, A1 were able to identify a number of configuration issues, incorrect licensing, and security flaws that could be rectified to increase security, lower costs, and lower administration overhead.

A1 migrated all users to Microsoft 365 Business Premium to ensure all staff members had adequate security and compliant licensing.  Additionally, we deployed new networking infrastructure and a FortiGate firewall to increase gateway security.

We then deployed Azure Active Directly on all corporate workstations to ensure centralisation of user management and asset management by way of Intune and Autopilot.

During this remediation phase, A1 also overhauled and streamlined ANSIC’s SharePoint and OneDrive configuration to ensure secure, seamless synchronisation across office staff and field engineers.

The result has been a more stable and secure IT environment that is inline with industry best practices for a business of ANSIC size.

The results and benefits have been numerous; we have lowered our licensing costs, our user accounts are now secure and inline with ISO27001 requirements, we have experienced less downtime and better productivity.
